Woman held in Sonamura for involvement in Drug Trafficking; 6 kg Ganja Seized

Agartala, 25th November 2025:   Tripura Police from Sonamura Police Station today morning arrested a woman accused of being involved in drug trafficking.

According to police sources, a late-night raid was conducted at her residence, during which 5.985 kg of dry ganja was recovered. Officers also seized a Maruti Eeco vehicle (registration number TR 07 0413), allegedly used for transporting the illegal substance from Sonamura to various locations.

Following the seizure, a case was registered at Sonamura Police Station early this morning under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The accused will be produced before the honorable court later today.

The arrested woman has been identified as Poppy Akhtar, 23 years old, a resident of Matinagar East Tilai under Sonamura Police Station.

Police further stated that during interrogation, Poppy Akhtar provided information about several other individuals from the area who are allegedly involved in drug trafficking. Authorities are now verifying the details, and legal action will be taken against them based on evidence.
