Agartala, 4th November 2026 : Jatrapur police, in a joint operation with the 81st Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), recovered 45.9 kg of dry cannabis and arrested a woman following a raid at a house in the area.
According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprising personnel from Jatrapur police station and the BSF conducted a search operation late Tuesday night at a house in the jurisdiction of Barnarayan Gram Panchayat under Jatrapur police station.
After an extensive search, the team recovered 45 kg and 900 grams of dry cannabis from the premises. The woman, identified as Safura Khatun, was arrested from the spot.
The operation continued throughout the night, and the arrested woman was brought to the police station in the early hours of Wednesday after completing the necessary formalities.
The raid was led by Jatrapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Parthanath Bhowmik. Sub-Inspector Bijoy Chakraborty, other police officials, TSR personnel and women police personnel were also part of the operation.
The OC informed that the arrested woman would be produced before the Sonamura court on Wednesday.
The seizure of such a substantial quantity of cannabis has created a stir in the locality. Police described the operation as part of their continued efforts to curb the illegal drug trade in the region.
