Agartala, 5th November 2025: A woman was seriously injured in a brutal domestic assault late Tuesday night, allegedly carried out by her husband following a family dispute.
Local sources informed that the incident took place near the Puranbari Forest Office in Charilam, where resident Nirdhan Dey reportedly attacked his wife, Ruma Roy Dey, with a stick, striking her repeatedly on the head. The assault left her bleeding profusely from injuries to her head, nose, and ears. Neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing her screams, prompting the accused to flee.
Local residents immediately alerted the Bishalgarh Fire and Emergency Services. Responders arrived swiftly and found the woman lying unconscious and bloodied on the roadside near her home. She was rushed to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital, where the attending female doctor was reportedly shocked by the severity of her injuries.
Due to the extent of the trauma, Ruma Roy Dey was referred to Agartala GBP Hospital for advanced treatment. However, no family member was available to accompany her during the transfer.
Meanwhile, Women’s Police Station staff has launched a manhunt to arrest the accused husband, who remains at large.
