Agartala, 17th August 2024: The finding of a woman’s body near Rani Khamar Sandhi Sangh Club under Amtali police station has caused significant commotion in the area. The deceased Sari Debbarma and her husband Biswajit Debbarma were employed at a rubber plantation owned by Krishna Das.
On Friday night, Biswajit allegedly killed Sari and left her body at their home. He later informed the police, claiming that his wife had committed suicide. The woman’s relatives, upon hearing the news on Saturday morning, immediately notified the authorities.
Police including Amtali SDPO Shankar Chandra Das swiftly arrived at the scene. Biswajit Debbarma was arrested and taken to the police station for interrogation. The body was sent to Dr BRAM Teaching Hospital and Tripura Medical College morgue for a post-mortem examination.
The Amtali police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Both local residents and the police suspect foul play, believing that Sari was murdered by her husband. The exact cause of death will be confirmed following the autopsy report.
