Women beaten up for supporting Congress, lodged police complaint

Agartala Dec 07: Reportedly, Tuesday night a woman namely Kajal Debnath, congress supporter was allegedly beaten up by BJHP Mahila Morcha activists on her way to home from Chandrapur area from Kashipur Bazar under East Agartala Women Police station.

Allegedly because of her association with Congress party for long time, the ruling party women activists abused her using obscene language.

Wednesday, women Congress workers rushed to Kajal Debnath’s residence to inquire about her health.The women congress workers strongly condemned the incident and raised question about women safety in the state under BHP-led state government.

 Later, Kajal Debnath accompanied by Women Congress leaders registered a case with the East Agartala Women Ps.However, no action has been taken by police till the time of writing the report.
