Agartala, 31st October 2025:  Women’s College in Tripura paid tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary with a series of commemorative events organized by its NSS unit. The celebrations were held in alignment with the Government of India’s nationwide initiative from October 17 to October 30 to honor Patel’s legacy.

The observance began on October 19 with an essay competition focused on Patel’s philosophy and contributions to modern India. On October 28, students and faculty took a pledge to build a self-reliant India, with the oath administered by faculty member Munmun Das.

The culmination of the tribute took place on October 31, when Acting Principal Sanchita Reang, along with other faculty members, offered floral respects at Patel’s portrait. A keynote address highlighting various facets of Patel’s life was delivered by Professor Ratnabali Ray Sengupta.

That same day, NSS volunteers from the college participated in a unity march organized by the Tripura government. Representing the cultural diversity of India, the volunteers showcased traditions from different states, reinforcing the message of unity in diversity—a principle Patel staunchly advocated.

The initiative received praise from members of the community for its thoughtful execution and emphasis on national integration. NSS Programme Officer Rama Bhattacharjee coordinated the entire series of events.
