By TC News Desk

Agartala, 26th March 2025:   A 52-year old man named Tarun Kumar Sharma of Khayerpur lost his life while cutting a large tree in the GB Hospital premises here. The incident took place around this noon when the rope he was using reportedly broke, causing him to fall to the ground. He was rushed to the hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Sharma’s wife, who arrived at the hospital with her sister-in-law, reported that her husband had left home at 7 am for the task. The on-duty doctor confirmed that his condition was critical upon arrival.

Eyewitnesses and locals expressed concerns over the lack of protective gear provided to workers, speculating that his death could have been avoided with proper safety measures. This incident has reignited criticism of the Labor Department’s alleged neglect of worker safety, with locals emphasizing the repeated fatalities in similar high-risk tasks like tree cutting, construction, and electrical work.
