World Tourism Day: Sushanta affirms govt’s commitment to fostering a tourism-friendly environment

Agartala, 27th September 2023:   In celebration of World Tourism Day, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury led a spirited padayatra from the Ujjayanta Palace today.

The procession embarked from the revered Ujjayanta Palace, traversing through various streets of the capital, culminating at the scenic Heritage Park. This symbolic journey aimed to spotlight the rich heritage of tourism in Tripura, underscoring its pivotal role in bolstering the state’s economy.

Speaking at the event, Minister Chowdhury affirmed the state government’s commitment to fostering a tourism-friendly environment. He emphasized the critical role tourism plays in steering Tripura towards self-sustainability.

Chowdhury outlined the primary objectives of the padayatra, which included raising awareness about the state’s cultural and historical treasures, and steering development goals through the tourism industry. Additionally, the event sought to enlighten the public about the substantial contributions of tourism to both the state and national economy.

World Tourism Day serves as a global platform to acknowledge the transformative power of tourism in various aspects of society. In Tripura, this occasion was marked by a resounding commitment to preserving and showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage while propelling economic growth through the tourism sector.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of key figures including Secretary of the Department UK Chakma, Director of Tourism Department, and Director of Youth Affairs Sports Department, among others.
