Agartala, 13th December 2025:  A 33-year-old youth from Uttar Brajapur under Charilam Rural Development Block in Sepahijala district has emerged as a remarkable example of self-reliance and entrepreneurship in Tripura. Hare Krishna Debnath, who completed his Master’s Degree in Commerce from the IGNOU Centre of Tripura University, has built a thriving ornamental tree plantation business purely out of personal interest without waiting for a government job.

Today, he stands as a successful businessman in the state’s ornamental plant sector and an inspiration for countless young people who are still focused solely on securing government employment.

Hare Krishna began his journey through a Self Help Group (SHG). With an initial loan of just Rs. 50,000 from Tagar SHG, he started small but with strong determination. Over the years, through hard work and consistent growth, his loan amount has expanded to Rs. 2.5 lakh, reflecting the increasing scale of his business.

He has been participating in the Swarash Fair at Hapania since 2022–23 and is prepared to take part once again in the edition beginning today, December 13. His ornamental products ranging from decorative plants to unique varieties sought by customers have earned him wide appreciation. Each year, he has received awards from fair organizers for his outstanding exhibits and contribution to promoting ornamental horticulture.

With a yearly turnover of more than Rs. 10 lakh, Hare Krishna’s business has now become a model for rural entrepreneurship in Tripura. He expresses his confidence in further expanding his venture with timely assistance from government schemes dedicated to small industries, horticulture, and self-employment.

“I want to take my business to greater heights. Support under government schemes can help me fulfil my dreams and achieve more success,” said Hare Krishna, who continues to motivate village youth to pursue self-employment opportunities instead of depending solely on government job openings.

His journey from a commerce postgraduate to a leading ornamental plant entrepreneur stands as a testament to the power of initiative, SHG-based financial support, and dedication.
