Agartala, May 8, 2023: Losing faith in the police, the local people caught a drug seller red-handed. After hit and bruises, the booked youth was handed over to the police. The incident took place in the area adjacent to Sai Baba Mandir in Mycherra under Belonia Sub-division.
It is learned that, a young man named Abhijit Das went to a house adjacent to Mycherra’s Sai Baba temple with drugs on Monday and was booked red-handed due to the suspicion of the locals. Later, he was handed over to the police after beating up by the locals. The detained youth is said to be a resident of the local area.
Abhijit was alerted several times earlier by locals. It was said in the area that such addictions would not build an empire. But even then he did not correct himself and continued poisoning the area. Some local citizens saw Abhijit on Monday morning with drugs, he was booked and reported to Belonia police station.
The police came, arrested him and took him to the police station for questioning. Local residents believe that many more names will come out if they interrogate him.
However, according to local sources, another person named Jayant Deb is involved with such activities. The police have registered a case against the accused youth under specific sections. Local residents demanded his punishment on Monday.
