Agartala, 11th April 2025:   The main gate of Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, a popular picnic spot has reportedly become a hub for drug-related activities. Local residents claim that the area is frequented by disorderly youths openly indulging in substance abuse, with little to no intervention from the authorities.

In a recent incident, Sourav Das, a youth from Charilam was booked by locals while allegedly under the influence of brown sugar and drug injections. The arrest took place near the sanctuary’s main gate, which has been described as a growing hotspot for drug addicts.

Residents have expressed frustration over the perceived indifference of the authorities, accusing them of failing to address the issue. Some have even speculated whether this inaction stems from fear or ulterior motives. The situation has raised concerns about the safety and reputation of the sanctuary as a family-friendly destination.
