Youth Congress accuses BJP of ‘False Propaganda’ over racial abuse incident

Agartala, 22^nd October 2026 : Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha on Wednesday strongly condemned the alleged racial harassment of a young man from Tripura in Delhi, accusing social media content creator Amir Shoukeen of mocking the state and subjecting the youth to racial abuse by calling him “Chinese.”

Saha also accused the BJP’s Tripura unit of spreading alleged misinformation by linking Shoukeen to the Congress, asserting that the content creator had no association with his party and instead maintained close ties with BJP leaders, including MP Manoj Tiwari.

Addressing the issue, Saha said the Youth Congress was deeply disturbed by the incident and had filed an FIR against Shoukeen at a police station. He urged Chief Minister Manik Saha to ensure the strictest possible action against those responsible.

The Youth Congress leader said he had contacted the All India Youth Congress president in Delhi to verify claims circulating on BJP-affiliated social media accounts. After checking Shoukeen’s Instagram profile, Saha alleged that the individual was associated with the BJP and had appeared in videos with several BJP leaders.

“Amir Shakhin has absolutely no connection with the Congress. He maintains close ties with various BJP leaders. It is unacceptable to make false allegations against a political party to mislead the public for political gains,” Saha said.

He also urged the BJP’s Tripura IT cell to verify an individual’s political affiliations before making allegations, accusing it of engaging in malicious propaganda.

“The Congress never provides a place in its ranks to people with such a sordid mindset,” Saha said, reiterating the Youth Congress’s condemnation of the alleged racial harassment.

He called for accountability and strict legal action in the case, stressing that racial discrimination against people from the Northeast must not be tolerated.

The allegations regarding Shoukeen’s political affiliations and his links with BJP leaders were made by Saha and could not be independently established from his statement alone.
