Youth nabbed with over 3 Kg of cannabis at Udaipur railway station

Agartala, 12th August 2025:   A youth was arrested at Udaipur railway station while allegedly attempting to smuggle cannabis to Kolkata. Acting on suspicion, police intercepted the individual and recovered 3.4 kilograms of dry cannabis from his possession.

Police sources informed that the incident took place early this morning when the Kanchanjunga Express halted at Udaipur railway station. Officers noticed the youth hastily boarding the train with a bag, prompting them to intervene. Upon questioning, inconsistencies in his statements led to a search of his belongings, revealing the narcotics.

The accused has been identified as Suman Chandra Das, a resident of Bashpukur under Jatrapur police station. During interrogation, Das confessed that he had agreed to transport the cannabis for a payment of just Rs 5,000.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the original owner of the contraband and uncover the broader network behind the smuggling operation.
