Agartala, 21st October 2025: Residents of Madhupur’s Jam Chowmuhani area were left stunned late last night when a tiger cub was spotted wandering the streets around 9:30 PM. The unexpected sighting drew a crowd within moments, as locals gathered to catch a glimpse of the wild animal.
Locals informed that a youth encountered the cub while riding his motorcycle. Initially mistaking it for a kitten, he quickly realized it was a tiger cub when it began approaching him in what appeared to be an aggressive manner. Despite initial fear, the man managed to safely restrain the animal.
“I saw it right in front of my bike. At first, I thought it was a cat, but then it started moving toward me as if to attack. It had all the features of a tiger, just smaller in size,” he recounted.
With no contact information for forest officials, the man took the cub home and cared for it overnight. He plans to hand it over to the Sepahijala Forest Department today.
The incident sparked brief panic in the neighborhood, with residents speculating about how the cub ended up in the area. While the origin of the animal remains unclear, the youth’s quick thinking and courage earned him praise from the community.
Forest officials are expected to investigate the matter further and ensure the cub’s safe relocation.
