Agartala, 24th December 2025: A youth was critically injured in a stabbing incident while attempting to protect a relative during a family dispute in the Malaynagar Adarsha Colony area of Agartala city.
The injured youth has been identified as Pranjit Das. Police sources said the accused in the case is Samir Sarkar, whose name has surfaced following the incident.
Reportedly, the dispute began at the residence of Pranjit’s aunt, where tensions flared between his uncle and his uncle’s brother. On receiving information, Pranjit rushed to the spot to defuse the situation. Upon arrival, he witnessed a heated altercation between the two men.
As the quarrel escalated into a physical confrontation, Samir Sarkar allegedly attempted to attack his brother. In an effort to shield his uncle, Pranjit intervened but was stabbed with a knife. Pranjit later claimed that the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack.
Pranjit Das was immediately rushed to hospital in a critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment.
