Action will be taken against erring officials for delay in Kundmala bridge repair: BJP

Date:

BJP’s state executive president Ravindra Chavan said on Tuesday that action would be taken against officials for delaying the repair of Kundmala bridge that collapsed and resulted in the death of four people and injuries to many people.

Addressing press conference here on Tuesday, Chavan said the accident in which the pedestrian bridge at Kundmala on the Indrayani river was washed away due to heavy rains was very sad and the Mahayuti government stood firmly with the families of the deceased and the injured.

He said If there is any deliberate delay in the repair work of this bridge, strict action would be taken against the officials concerned, Chavan said.

He said that administrative approval was given for the construction of a new bridge over the Kundamala river in the July, 2024 supplementary budget for Rs 8 crore. However, the Code of Conduct came into effect following the announcement of state assembly polls.

In the meantime, all the technical aspects were completed and the bridge design was finalized, Chavan said. The construction department gave an order to start the repair work of the bridge, and instructions were also given to complete the work within a year.

In such a situation, if there is any deliberate delay in the process, it will be investigated and action would be taken against the guilty, Chavan added.
