Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Darjeeling meeting in favour of BJP candidate Raju Bista on Sunday was cancelled at the last minute after Shah’s helicopter failed to land at the Lebong helipad due to prevailing inclement weather and rains in upper hills, party sources said.
One of the BJP’s speakers from the dais announced that after hovering three times over the Lebong helipad, the chopper of Shah,
returned.
Shah arrived at the Bagdogra Airport last night and stayed in a
hotel at Sukhna but his destination at the Gorkha Ground could not be materialised this Sunday and retured to Katihar to address a party meeting in Bihar.
He, however, communicated a message to the party supporters about the BJP plan and programmes for the Gorkhas and assured the demands to include some eleven janjaties to be included in the list.
He also sought an apology from the people for being unable to be
present before the people.
