Assam Rifle delivers major blow to narcotics syndicates, contraband worth Rs 25 crore seized at Cachar

Agartala, 4th August 2026 :  In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Cachar Police, achieved another significant success by recovering a massive consignment of narcotic substances from General Area Motinagar, Bhuban Pahar, Lakhipur, Cachar District, Assam.

The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 1,10,000 Yaba tablets weighing about 14 kg and 10 soap cases containing heroin weighing 223 grams, with a combined estimated international market value of approximately Rs 25 crore. Two mobile handsets used in the illicit trafficking network were also seized.

Three individuals, were also apprehended during the operation. The apprehended individuals, along with the recovered contraband and seized items, have been handed over to Cachar Police for further legal proceedings under the provisions of the NDPS Act.

The successful operation underscores Assam Rifles’ unwavering resolve and operational excellence in dismantling drug trafficking networks working in close synergy with civil police and other law enforcement agencies.
