BJP leader Dilip Ghosh slams CM Banerjee’s delayed visit to riot-hit Murshidabad

Date:

BJP’s senior leader Dilip Ghosh on Monday slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her delayed visit to Murshidabad district, claiming the administration has already “erased” all proof of the widespread destruction that took place during the anti-Waqf bill riots.

“Now she has the opportunity to tell that there is no such evidence of the rioting as she did previously, as she allowed the administration and police to remove all the evidence of burned vehicles and shops in riot hit areas,” Ghosh told reporters.

Ghosh claimed the people of Murshidabad have lost confidence in the chief minister and now her visit would not cure their wounds. She could have visited the area within two to three days of the rioting as others had done and seen the real signs of rampage there.

“Now her Murshidabad visit is an attempt to suppress the facts,” said Ghosh, who had called on the chief minister during the inauguration of the Jagannath temple at Digha in East Medinipur on April 30.

Ghosh went along with his newly-married wife to offer prayers at the Digha temple after the chief minister invited him, and Ghosh was seen sitting in a sofa along with Banerjee.

Since then Ghosh has been literally sidelined by the party’s top leadership as the BJP had boycotted the function.

The Murshidabad violence claimed three lives, injuries to many people, with property looted and shops vandalised, with even some police vans and motorcycles set on fire.
