BJP MLA held guilty in rape rape case, sent to jail

Date:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Duddhi seat Ramdular Gond was held guilty by a local court here in Sobbhadra district in Uttar Predesh on Tuesday in a nine-year-old rape case of a minor girl, prosecution sources said here.

Prosecution sources said that after being held guilty by the court of Additional District Judge (I) Ahsamullah Khan the MLA was taken into judicial custody and was sent to the jail.

“The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on December 15,” they said.

Sources said that on November 4, 2014 a person gave a complaint at Muirpur police station that Gond was sexually assaulting his minor sister by threatening her.

“The police lodged a case against Gond under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Pocso Act and later filed a charge sheet in the court,” they said.

Prosecution sources said that the arguments in the case concluded on December 8 after which the court fixed December 12 as the date for judgement.

“On Tuesday the court held Gond guilty and sent him to jail in judicial custody,” they said.
