BJY is a movement to fill the gap of economic inequality: Kharge

Date:

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday accused the BJP-led government at the Centre that it has deepened the gap of ‘economic

inequality’ and claimed that the party’s ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra is a movement which will fill this gap.

“The BJP has deepened the gap of economic inequality so much that the common man of the country is sinking into it,” Kharge wrote in a tweet.

He also claimed that the huge wealth of the country has gone into the hands of a few people.

“The richest one per cent in India own more than 40 per cent of the country’s wealth. Half of the population has only three per cent left. Bharat Jodo Yatra is a movement to fill the gap of economic inequality,” the Congress chief said.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra-led MP Rahul Gandhi which started from Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari on September 7, is scheduled to conclude on January 30 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar.

The Congress president wrote to chiefs of 23 like-minded political parties to attend the concluding function.
