CM Majhi unveils expansion plan for Odisha Bhawans across key cities

Date:

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced that the state government will reconstruct the Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi, renovate the Utkal Bhawan in Kolkata, and build new Odisha Bhawans in Ayodhya, Hyderabad and Surat.
Reviewing the progress of the new Odisha Bhawan project at Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, the Chief Minister instructed the architect to incorporate Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, including traditional stonework, Sambalpuri Ikat designs, and Odia art forms, in the structure.
He directed officials to expedite the construction process and informed that the G+6 building will cover a total area of 4,761 sq.m, housing 45 suites of different categories, along with a modern conference hall.
The Chief Minister further suggested that additional rooms will be constructed at the Mumbai Odisha Bhawan to accommodate the large number of cancer patients from Odisha undergoing treatment there.
He also stressed the need for new Odisha Bhawans in Ayodhya, given the growing number of Odia pilgrims visiting the city, as well as in Hyderabad and Surat, where a significant Odia population resides.
The renovation of Utkal Bhawan in Kolkata also came up for discussion during the meeting.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrat Sahu, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shashwat Mishra, Principal Secretary (Finance) Sanjiv Mishra, and Principal Secretary (Works) Sanjay Kumar Singh were present at the meeting.
