COVID-19 cases rise in Maharashtra, Mumbai records highest new infections

Maharashtra reported 86 new COVID-19 cases on June 3, raising the state’s total infections to 959 since January this year. Among these, 435 patients have recovered, while 510 remain active and are undergoing treatment.

The state also recorded four new deaths, bringing the total fatalities to 14.

Mumbai led with 26 new cases, followed by Pune with 24, Thane with 9, and Navi Mumbai 6.

As of June 4, India has 4,302 active COVID-19 cases nationwide, with 3,281 patients discharged.

Maharashtra’s recent deaths occurred in Chandrapur and Miraj, primarily affecting individuals with underlying health conditions. Mumbai, which has reported 509 cases since January, continues to see mostly mild infections.

On June 3, Maharashtra conducted 12,880 tests, confirming 86 positive cases and 435 recoveries. The city-wise distribution of new cases included Mumbai (26), Thane Municipal Corporation (9), Navi Mumbai (6), and Kalyan-Dombivli (1).

The monthly case trend shows a sharp increase over recent months, with only a handful of cases reported in January through April, escalating to 503 cases in May.

Health authorities have urged the public, especially those with comorbidities, to remain vigilant.
