Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday declared that the days of Naxalism in the country were now numbered due to sustained efforts of his government to combat it over the last ten years.
Modi, while addressing a public meeting at Bikramganj in Rohtas district of Bihar, said that the days were not far when Maoist violence would be completely eradicated
in the country. The number of naxalite-affected districts was 75 before 2014, which was reduced to 18 only, he added.
” People of Bihar have witnessed the terror of Naxalites as it used to wreak havoc in some districts of the state, but now these elements have been eliminated “, he said and alleged that those who promoted Maoist violence had no faith in Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
Modi said that Naxalites were creating obstructions in the development of the regions of their dominance. They used to blow up mobile towers and other infrastructural facilities, he pointed out.
