Delhi all set for PM, Rahul’s first campaign today

With just a week before all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi face polls on May 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting in North East Delhi on Saturday evening and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will canvass in Chandni Chowk. This will be their first poll rally in the national capital for the 2024 general elections.

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Virendra Sachdeva, party candidate from North East Delhi Manoj Tiwari and others visited the PM’s rally venue on Friday to take stock of the preparations. “PM Modi’s rally will be historic, and the enthusiasm of the workers and public will speak for itself,” Sachdeva said.

“The PM is coming to guide us and it is a matter of pride for our region that Narendra Modi, a global leader, is coming to guide us. People of NE Delhi are very excited to see their popular PM, and everyone wants to see and hear him,” said Tiwari checking the elaborate arrangements.

On the INDI alliance side, Delhi Congress leader Anil Bharadwaj said: “Rahul Gandhi will address a massive public meeting for party candidates of INDIA bloc at the Ramlila Ground at 6pm on Saturday.”

A four-layer security cordon comprising of special protection group (SPG), security wing of the Delhi Police, and the local police will be in place when the prime minister speaks at the DDA ground, as per sources.

More than 2,000 security and traffic personnel have been deployed for PM’s rally, they said.

The PM will arrive at the venue in a chopper, after addressing an election rally in Sonepat, Haryana.
