EAM Jaishankar in Johannesburg, holds talks with Singaporean, Brazilian counterparts

 External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan and with Mauro Vieira, the FM of Brazil, on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Johannesburg today.

He said in posts on X:

“Always a good conversation with FM @VivianBala of Singapore, this time in Johannesburg on the sidelines of G20 FMM.

“Discussed the state of the world and our work in furthering bilateral ties.”

On his meeting with the Foreign Minister of Brazil, he said that they discussed bilateral ties, global developments, their work in the G20 and Brazil’s BRICS Presidency.

“Delighted to meet FM Mauro Vieira of Brazil today in Johannesburg.

“Discussed bilateral ties, global developments, our work in the G20 and Brazil’s BRICS Presidency.”

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar is on a two-day visit to Johannesburg, South Africa, from February 20-21 to participate in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM).

The visit is at the invitation of the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Ronald Lamola.

EAM’s participation in the G20 FMM will strengthen India’s engagement with G20 countries and bolster the voice of the Global South in this important forum, a statement said.

EAM is expected to hold a few bilateral meetings on the margins of the FMM.
