ECI’s Press Briefing, Pan-India SIR Likely To Be Announced

Date:

After Bihar, the Election Commission is likely to announce a nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) from November 1, starting with five states and Union Territories – Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal – where Assembly elections are scheduled next year.

States facing “peculiar circumstances,” such as those where local body polls have already been notified, may be excluded for now.
