Employment has increased manifold in Bengal: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said employment has increased manifold in the state, while poverty is on the wane.

“12 lakh jobs have been created in the state. Scholarships are given to everyone irrespective of caste-religion, Hindu-Muslim. The state’s GDP has increased during the Corona period. The state government’s Duare Sarkar (government at the doorstep) scheme received award from the central government” she said.

The first meeting of this year’s G-20 summit began at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre here on Monday with Banerjee inaugurating the conclave.

The three-day meeting will continue till Wednesday.

The main topic of the meeting is Digital Financial System.

Giving a message of unity from the meeting, Banerjee said the development of people is essential. and called upon everyone to work together for the sake of development leaving aside politics.

The main objective of this G20 meeting is to bring marginalised people into the banking system and increase their personal and national income.

Apart from G-20 member countries, representatives of the European Union member nations, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, NABARD, and IMF are attending the meeting.

India will preside over this year’s G20 conference.

According to the state secretariat Nabanna sources, after the first day’s meeting, a dinner cruise has been arranged for the guests on the Ganga. A cultural programme will follow the dinner on Tuesday at Palkutir in Newtown.

On Wednesday, January 11, guests will tour the Victoria Memorial. There will be an opportunity for them to enjoy street food.
