Ensuring safety of daughters first priority of double-engine govt: Yogi

Date:

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday announced that the government will give a free gas cylinder on Diwali and said that the initiative aims to offer relief to the mothers and sisters in the state by freeing them from the harmful effects of smoke.

Addressing Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan organised in Bansdih here, Yogi highlighted the government’s commitment to ensure the safety of daughters and said that those who attempt to harm the security of daughters will face a fate similar to that of Ravana and Kansa.

He said that the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana is a significant demonstration of the government’s commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities towards daughters.

“Under this scheme, our government is going to give Rs 25,000 from the next session. This money will be given to the parents of daughters in six phases. Under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, our government is giving Rs 51,000.”

The CM said, “After delimitation in 2026, 33 percent reservation will be given to the women of the country in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. The number of women in the Assembly and Lok Sabha will increase to one-third. For this, we are all grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

He underscored that the government’s primary goal is to ensure the safety, respect and self-reliance of women.

“The government has taken forward the recruitment of 20 percent women personnel in the state police force on a priority basis. In the coming time, we are going to take forward the action of recruiting mostly women teachers in the schools of the Basic Education Council as well,” he said.

Assuring the women in attendance, Yogi emphasised that the double-engine government will persist in its efforts to empower women economically without compromising their safety and dignity, recognising them as a vital part of the population.

He pointed towards the transformation in India, which prioritises security, respect and self-esteem for all. “Today, every poor person is being given housing, toilets, gas connections under Ujjwala and health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh,” he said.

The CM said that there are no limitations on development now, with numerous development projects underway.

He said that Ballia district is going to be the best medium of water route in UP because it is surrounded by Ganga on one side and Saryu on the other side. “Naturally, all of you will definitely benefit from it,” he said.

During this, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 35 development projects worth Rs 129 crore. He also distributed certificates to women beneficiaries of various development projects.
