Ex-MLA Abdullah Azam released from jail after 16 months

 Abdullah Azam Khan, former MLA and son of senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan, was released from Hardoi district jail after being granted bail by a special court here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, official sources said here.

Sources said that Abdullah Azam was lodged in Hardoi district jail for more than 16 months in a fake date of birth certificate case. “The bail warrant reached the district jail from Rampur after which the verification process was completed and then Abdullah Azam was released,” they said.

The party workers were very happy with the release of Abdullah Azam. SP MP Ruchi also reached Moradabad on this occasion. Abdullah Azam left from here for Rampur with a convoy of dozens of vehicles.

On October 22, 2023, Abdullah Azam was transferred from Rampur to Hardoi district jail. He was lodged in Hardoi jail for more than 16 months. On Monday, the warrant for his release was sent to Hardoi jail from the MP-MLA Magistrate Trial Court and he was released on Tuesday.
