Fire destroys camps in Maha Kumbh fair

A few tents were gutted after a fire broke out in Sector 18 Tulsi and Shankaracharya Marg in Maha Kumbh Nagar on Friday, police sources said here.

Police sources said that more than a dozen fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and controlled the fire.

Kalpvasi police station in-charge inspector Ajab Singh said that in the temple camp located on Shankaracharya Marg near Tulsi intersection on GT Road, a fire broke out in the camp of Devi Sampada Math.

He said that more than a dozen fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and controlled the fire. No information was immediately available about how the fire started.

He said that immediately after receiving information about the fire, the police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. The crowd was removed from the spot.

Singh said that due to strong wind the fire broke out in the camp of Devi Sampada Math. The fire has been controlled. There is no report of any loss of life.

Many camps were burnt to ashes due to the fire. It may be noted that this is the third incident of fire in Maha Kumbh within 20 days. Before this, fire broke out in Sector 19 and Sector 22. However, there was no loss of life in these three incidents.
