External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday met with Édouard Philippe, former prime minister of France, and discussed the transformations underway in India as well as the global strategic situation.
The EAM also met with a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French National Assembly who are on a visit to India.
“Glad to meet Édouard Philippe, former PM of France today afternoon.
“Discussed the transformations underway in India as well as the global strategic situation.”
On his meeting with the French Foreign Affairs Committee, he tweeted that the discussions ranged from climate change, energy, Indo-Pacific and the Ukraine conflict.
“A good conversation with delegation from Foreign Affairs Committee of French National Assembly on their visit to India
“It reflected our strong bilateral collaboration. And ranged from climate change, energy, Indo-Pacific and Ukraine conflict.“
French Ambassador to India Emmanuel Lenain, in tweets on the meetings, said:
“On his first official visit to India, former French Prime Minister and Mayor of Le Havre Edouard Philippe calls on EAM @DrSJaishankar.
“He praised #G20India presidency and reaffirmed the key role of the France India strategic partnership in preparing together for the future.”
“Foreign Affairs Committee members of French National Assembly led by its president @JLBourlanges called on EAM @DrSJaishankar.
“They discussed ways of further deepening the France India strategic partnership, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.”
The delegation is led by Jean-Louis Bourlanges, Chairman of the Committee.
On Monday, the French delegation called on Chief Election Commissioner Shri Rajiv Kumar at Nirvachan Sadan.
They also met Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav.
