HMPV testing started in Bihar: Health Minister

Date:

Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said that testing for Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) has started in the state.

Pandey said here on Friday that three samples similar to the symptoms of HMPV were tested at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), and of which none of them was found to be suffering from the disease.

He said that the testing will be further expanded and arrangements were being made to initiate the test at RMRI Patna with the consent of central government. In all likelihood the HMPV testing would start from Monday at RMRI.

The Minister said that it is a simple respiratory virus similar to Covid-19 symptoms.
