The Indian Coast Guard(ICG) Station Pipavav evacuated a critically injured man from an Indian Fishing Boat, 50 Km from the coast in the Gulf of Khambat.
According to a Defence Ministry statement on Thursday, the ICG medical team administered the initial treatment to the 37-year-old fisherman. He was later shifted to the Government Hospital in stable condition for further medical management.
The incident happened on Wednesday.
The statement said that on receipt of information, ICG Interceptor Boat C-409 on deployment was diverted by Maritime Rescue Sub Centre, Pipavav.
The Interceptor Boat on reaching the site, established communication with the IFB named Pushkar Raj and it was intimated that the fisherman had sustained a fracture in his left foot and his ankle had parted, the statement said.
The Coast Guard after giving initial treatment shifted the patient to a Government hospital for further treatment, the statement added.
