India, Cambodia agree to venture into cooperation in health, digital tech

India and Cambodia held the Third Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Siem Reap, Cambodia, today during which they reviewed the bilateral relations, and agreed to explore new avenues of cooperation including in health and digital technologies.

The Indian delegation was led by Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) and the Cambodian delegation was led by UN Kheang, Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, a statement said.

The consultations were held in a warm and friendly atmosphere and provided an opportunity to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations including political cooperation, trade & investment, defence & security, development assistance, heritage conservation & restoration and consular issues.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress made across various sectors of bilateral engagement and agreed to explore new avenues of cooperation including in health and digital technologies.

Secretary (East) along with Secretary of State of Cambodia also visited the Asian Traditional Textile Museum (established with Indian assistance under the Mekong Ganga Cooperation) as well as the Ta Prohm Temple, site of an Indian assisted conservation and restoration project.

Cambodia is an important pillar in India’s Act East Policy and Vision of the Indo-Pacific. Cambodia is also a key partner of India in the Global South.

It was agreed to convene the next FOC at a mutually convenient date, the statement added.

The MEA spokesperson said in a post on X:

“The 3rd India-Cambodia FOC co-chaired by Secretary (East) @JaideepMazumder & Secretary of State, Dr. UN Kheang of Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, Cambodia were held today in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

“Discussions covered the entire gamut of bilateral ties including political exchanges, trade & investment, defence & security, development assistance, heritage conservation & restoration and consular issues. They also exchanged views on regional & global issues of mutual interest.”
