Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Wednesday while praising the central government’s decision to honour former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur with Bharat Ratna demanded the same for party founder Kanshi Ram.
Taking to X, Mayawati wrote, “In the country, especially the extremely backward people have been given social status by struggling hard all their lives for their constitutional rights. Today, I pay immense tribute to Karpoori Thakur ji, the public leader who gave a life of justice and equality, on his 100th birth anniversary.”
She said, “We welcome the belated decision of the central government to honour Karpoori Thakur ji, a great personality of the country who was the Chief Minister of Bihar twice, with the title of Bharat Ratna. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to his family and all his followers for this highest civilian honour of the country.”
The BSP supremo said, “Similarly, it is necessary to honour BSP founder Shri Kanshi Ram ji with Bharat Ratna for his to make the Dalits and other neglected people live with self-respect and stand on their feet, which is historic and unforgettable, as per the wish of crores of people.”
