Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Saturday said Jammu and Kashmir was by and large moving towards a ‘terror-free region’.
He said the next challenge for the police would be to launch a drive with full strength against the terror that is being generated by drug smuggling.
“We are now proud of the fact that Jammu and Kashmir in its entirety is by and large moving towards a terror free region. And the next challenge for all of us, for the police and other stakeholders would be to move with equal vigor and with equal strength launch a drive against the terror that is being generated by the drug smuggling and drug abuse,” J&K Police Chief Singh told reporters in Sopore on the sidelines of a police function.
He said that now they have to move jointly and strongly from terror free region to drug free Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh said that the numbers of militants who are active now is all time low and the effort is to take care of the remnant militancy wherever in whatever form it is present now.
He said Sopore-once a volatile area- was terror free now.
