A gunfight erupted between security forces and terrorists on Sunday morning in Mendhar belt of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that on intelligence inputs, a search operation was launched in the forest area of Mendhar.
The terrorists (believed to be three) fired upon the search party, and the contact was established in Kalaban near Pathanatir at Katera village.
“The area is cordoned while the exchange of firing is underway,” said police.
Earlier on September 13, contact was established between security forces and terrorists in the Surankote area of Poonch.
On the same day, two soldiers were martyred and as many were injured in a gunfight in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district.
