The Lok Sabha was disrupted more than once on Wednesday as Opposition MPs protested alleged misuse of the Enforcement Directorate.
MPs of Congress, DMK and NCP protested alleged misuse of the ED, a day after the ED conducted searches multiple locations in connection with the National Herald case.
The first adjournment came soon after the House met for the Question Hour, as Opposition MPs raised slogans.
MPs from Congress and DMK also trooped near the Speaker’s podium, and raised slogans. NCP MPs were also on their feet. Amid the ruckus Speaker Om Birla adjourned the lower House till noon.
At 12 pm, when the House met again, the scene remained the same and protests continued.
In the din, the The Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill was introduced in the House. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was heard mentioning the ‘National Herald’, but was told by the Chair, Rajendra Agrawal, to speak on the Bill that was being introduced.
When the din did not end, the Chair adjourned the House till 2 p.m.
