Stating that the cooperation between India and UAE has grown manifold over the last nine years in diverse sectors, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that he was looking forward to further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership.

Before departing on a two-day visit to the UAE and Qatar, Modi said in a statement said that he was looking forward to meeting Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, in Abu Dhabi and also holding wide-ranging discussions on taking forward the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

He said, “Over the last nine years, our cooperation with the UAE in diverse sectors such as trade and investment, defence and security, food and energy security, and education has grown manifold. Our cultural and people-to-people connections are stronger than ever.’

The PM is on an official visit from 13-14 February to the UAE and to Qatar from 14-15 February. This will be his seventh visit to the UAE and his second visit to Qatar since 2014.

“I had the privilege of hosting His Highness recently in Gujarat, where he was the Chief Guest at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024,” he said.

Modi said he would be inaugurating the first Hindu mandir in Abu Dhabi and called the BAPS temple an enduring tribute to the values of harmony, peace, and tolerance, which both India and the UAE share.

On February 14, the PM said he would be addressing the gathering of world leaders at the World Government Summit in Dubai, and his discussion with Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid will focus on strengthening the multifaceted ties with Dubai.

He will also address the members of the Indian community at a special event in Abu Dhabi.

Modi said he was looking forward to meeting Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir, under whose leadership Qatar continues to witness tremendous growth and transformation.

“India and Qatar enjoy historically close and friendly relations. In recent years, our multifaceted ties have continued to deepen in all spheres, including high-level political exchanges, growing trade and investment between two countries, strengthening our energy partnership, and cooperation in culture and education.

The presence of over 800,000 strong Indian communities in Doha is a testament to our strong people-to-people

ties,” the PM said.
