Mamata: Arrangements made to bring back families of terror victims, kin

Date:

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said her administration in New Delhi was alerted to bring the three victims from the state and their surviving family members back home safely.

” As per updated information made available to us, 3 persons from our state have died in the most unfortunate Kashmir violence,” she said on her X handle.

She said all arrangements are being made by the state administration at Delhi airport to help the family members of the victims and their onward journey to Kolkata.

She said the flight is likely to arrive at Kolkata airport at 8.30 pm today.

“Our Resident Commissioner’s office in Delhi is in touch with the family members,” she added. The chief minister was personally monitoring the arrangements to bring back all to their home. “I am personally overseeing and our senior officers are working hands on. A grim hour for all of us,” she described the horror attack at Pahalgam.

“Our victims are: Bitan Adhikari (of Baishnabghata, Kolkata), Samir Guha (Sakher Bazar, Kolkata), and Manish Ranjan (Jhalda, Purulia). No word is enough as a condolence for their families, even while my heart goes out to them. We stand by the families,” she said.

Senior cabinet minister Firhad Hakim visited Samir Guha’s residence in Behala where Guha’s relatives arrived this morning after hearing the news of the massacre. The relatives called police from Thakurpukur Station and got the main door opened as Guha (52), a Central government employee, went for vacation to Kashmir locking his door.

Hakim condemned the cowardly act of terrorists. Hakim, who is also the city Mayor, said he would go to get back the bodies from the airport.
