Mamata saddened at the demise of Oommen Chandy


 West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday expressed her profound sorrow at the demise of Oommen Chandy, former chief minister of Kerala.

Taking to her Twitter handle, Banerjee said, ” Deeply saddened at the demise of respected Oommen Chandy, former chief minister of Kerala and elder statesman of our times. “

Stating that the veteran Congress leader had played a vital role in Kerala’s development and democratisation of public life, the Chief Minister offered her sincere condolences to the bereaved family members and the innumerable followers of the capable and popular leader.

Chandy passed away in a hospital in Bengaluru on Tuesday morning. He was 79.
