Modi-Tusk talks: India, Poland agree to elevate ties to Strategic Partnership

Date:

India and Poland have agreed to elevate their ties to Strategic Partnership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday after holding talks with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk. He also said India is willing to provide any kind of support needed to help find a resolution to the Ukraine conflict.

In his media statement after holding bilateral talks in the Federal Chancellery, PM Modi also referred to the Ukraine and Middle East conflicts

“Today holds a lot of significance in the context of India-Poland ties as after 45 years an Indian PM is visiting Poland.

“This year we are marking the 70th year of our diplomatic relations, and have decided to elevate our ties to Strategic Partnership,” the PM said.

“The Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Middle East conflict are a matter of great concern for all of us.

“It is India’s firm belief that any solution to a conflict cannot be found on the battlefield. In any conflict the loss of lives of innocent people has become a big challenge for humanity.

“For peace and stability, we are in favour of dialogue and diplomacy to find a resolution.

“For this India is willing to work with friendly nations to provide any kind of support needed to find a resolution to the conflict,” the PM said.

“As two democracies, the exchange between our parliaments is important and for our private sectors to be joined in trade.

“In the sector of food processing, Poland is among world leaders. We want that Polish companies join the mega food parks in India.

“In Water treatment, solid waste management, urban infrastructure, in these fields new opportunities are opening in India. I invite the Polish companies to join in the Make in India and Make for the World,” the PM said.
