Joint Commissioner, State Transport Authority Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, was on Saturday arrested by the Odisha Vigilance in a DA case and forwarded to the Bhubaneswar Special Judge, Vigilance court.
Vigilance sources said Mohanty was arrested for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to
the tune of 143 percent of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Bhubaneswar Vigilance has already registered a case against Mohanty, his spouse and his relative U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC (Amendment) Act,2018.
During house searches, the Vigilance Sleuths have unearthed huge assets in the name of Mohanty which included a Triple storeyed residential building with area approx 2400 Sqft. located at Maitri Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
A Payment of approx Rs.1 Crore advanced by Mohanty to the Realtor to purchase one 4-BHK Flat
in 9 Boulevard apartment at Raghunathpur, Bhubaneswar in the name Mohanty and his spouse.
Similarly, one triple storeyed under construction building with area about 7500 Sqft. at Balukhand, Puri (the asset is suspected to be benami which is under verification) is also found in the possession of Mohanty..
A farmhouse spread over with area A 14.78 dcml. At Kusupalla, Nayagarh and eleven high value plots in Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Ranapur, Nayagarh and one big patch of agricultural land with area A 11.08 dcml were also unearthed during the search operation
A cash of Rs.17.55 Lakhs of Mohanty, moreover, 26 numbers of 2000 rupees notes have been seized.
Three Gold biscuits (100 gms each) and gold ornaments (total weight 2.1 Kg) also recovered from the possession of Mohanty.
Bank deposits & household articles worth over Rs.27.25 lakhs of Mohanty were also found during the search operation.
Vigilance sources said after thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of the Joint Commissioner, State Transport Authority, Cuttack were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 143 percent in excess of his known sources of income.
