Odisha: Three workers trapped as coal hopper collapses in Dalmia Cement Plant

 Three workers were reportedly trapped inside the debris in an accident due to the collapse of a coal hopper in the boiler area of the captive power plant at the Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. cement plant at Rajgangpur in Odisha on Thursday night.

A release from Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd on Friday said, “We are saddened to report an accident due to the collapse of a coal hopper in the boiler area of the Captive Power Plant at the company’s cement plant located at Rajgangpur, Odisha.

The coal hopper was operated by a third-party vendor engaged by the company.

The accident occurred at around 6:00 pm (IST) on Thursday, wherein the whereabouts of three persons are yet to be ascertained.

The injured, the company said, have been provided immediate treatment, and the best medical care is being provided by the company.

Post the incident, all the emergency protocol services have been activated, and the area has been cordoned off.

The plant operations team, with the help of the district administration and the state government, is working on rescue operations, it said.

Safety remains our top priority, and we are committed to safe and secure working conditions, the company said.
