Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Friday said that the opposition to the installation of the statue of Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in the Gwalior Bench of the High Court in Madhya Pradesh is a sign of casteist thinking.
Taking to social media, Mayawati wrote, “The court allowed the installation of the statue of the revered Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in the Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on the demand of the advocates with their financial support. The place was selected and the platform was built under the direction of the court and the statue was also made, but some advocates suffering from casteist thinking are opposing the installation of the statue.”
She said despite inflammatory statements on social media, no action was taken against the culprits. The opponents of Baba Saheb will have to understand that the Bahujan Samaj, neglected for centuries, now wants to get its respect.”
“It is a request to the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, the High Court and the Chief Minister to remove the obstacles coming in the way of installing the statue,” said the BSP chief.
