Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Hyderabad here on Saturday morning to lay the foundation stone for various projects worth Rs 6,100 crore and also address a public meeting at Warangal in Telangana.
The PM landed at the Hakimpet Air Force Station near here and was received by Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and other BJP leaders.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao skipped the tradition of receiving the Prime Minister again.
BRS working President and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday announced to boycott Prime Minister Modi’s programmes in Warangal today for the ‘ poison’ he had in his mind for Telangana.
The PM then proceeded to Warangal by a helicopter, where he offered prayers and special Puja at the historic Goddess Bhadrakali temple.
Later, Modi will proceed to the Arts and Science college ground a 11 am, where he will virtually lay foundation for several key infrastructure development projects, including four laning of the Karimnagar-Warangal Section of NH-563 (Rs 2,150 crore).
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a 108 Km four lane Access Controlled Greenfield highway section on NH-163G (Mancherial -Warangal), cot Rs 3,440 crore.
He will also lay the foundation for Rs 520 crore railway manufacturing unit at Kazipet.
Following the foundation stone laying, the Prime Minister will address the public meeting from 11:45 am to 12:20 pm. Subsequently, he will meet with BJP leaders from 12:20 pm to 12:30 pm before departing for Hakimpet airport at 1:40 pm.
According to Warangal Police Commissioner AV Ranganath said that in light of the Prime Minister’s visit, traffic restrictions were imposed in the tri-cities, and Section 144 was enforced in the limits of Warangal and Hanamkonda districts.
To ensure the smooth execution of the visit, around 3000 police personnel have been deployed at the Bhadrakali temple and the public meeting venue, the top police official added.
