PM Modi fulfills his vow with Ram Lalla’s idol consecrated in Ayodhya temple

Date:

Thirty-two years after vowing to return to Ayodhya only after the construction of the Ram temple, Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again set foot in the temple town, and completed the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in a historic event here on Monday.

On 14 January 1992, during his visit to Ayodhya, Modi as a BJP karyakarta had taken a vow to return only when the temple dedicated to Lord Ram was completed. He was part of the yatra for the integration of Kashmir with India, which was accomplished when Article 370 was abrogated in 2019.

On that day, he had raised the slogans of Jai Shri Ram and participated in the worship of Lord Ram, who was housed in a makeshift tent. The media persons present there captured Modi’s vow.

On August 5, 2020, the PM visited the temple town to lay the foundation stone of the temple at the Lord Ram’s birthplace.

Today, Modi participated as the Chief Yajman at the Pran Prathista ceremony and completed the rituals.

These rituals were not only a ceremonial act but also a reflection of his commitment to India’s cultural and religious ethos.

The PM performed the aarti amidst the chanting of hymns and prayers, creating an atmosphere of devotion and spirituality. He also performed Dandavat Pranam at the temple.

This act of devotion, which is performed by prostrating fully with one’s forehead touching the ground, is a mark of total surrender and reverence to the deity, in this case, Lord Ram, a symbol of virtues and righteousness.

Modi’s engagement in the temple’s rituals and ceremonies is a reaffirmation of his commitment to India’s cultural and religious heritage.

To mark the auspicious moment of spiritual grandeur, the IAF helicopters showered ceremonial flowers on the newly-built Ram Janmabhoomi temple, which was adorned with petals. This spectacle added fervour to the national pride and spice to the religious milieu across India.

The Prime Minister, known for his deep-rooted cultural convictions, expressed his emotions on X: “The extraordinary moment of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla’s life in Ayodhya Dham is going to leave everyone emotional. It is my great pleasure to be a part of this divine program. Hail Siya Ram!”

The consecration rituals, a significant spiritual procedure in Hinduism for infusing life into a deity’s idol, were conducted in the presence of distinguished guests including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat.

These leaders were present inside the sanctum sanctorum, participating in the historic and religiously significant event.

Earlier, Modi entered the temple premises carrying a silver ‘chattar’ (umbrella) atop a red folded dupatta, symbolizing reverence and honor.

Dressed in a traditional golden kurta, cream dhoti, and patka, PM Modi took a vow for the Consecration ceremony, before proceeding to the sanctum sanctorum to partake in the consecration rituals.

Pran Prathista, signifying the culmination of 500 years of wait to consecrate Lord Ram at his rightful birthplace, was witnessed by millions of people and Ram Bhakts across the globe on television and in temples.

The event, held at the temple’s sanctum sanctorum, welcomed over 8,000 guests, including representatives from various spiritual and religious sects across India, along with people from different walks of life and tribal communities.
