Stepping up its attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress on Friday accused the PM of not taking the Manipur situation “seriously” and said it shows the “failure” of the ruling dispensation.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh, said, “Manipur is burning from the past 40 days. Why is the PM not taking it seriously ? He is just sitting as a spectator”.
“Thursday , a delegation from Manipur sought an appointment with the PM. They have not received any information yet. Why is the Prime Minister not having time for discussing with the people of Manipur ?,” he asked.
He added, “It shows the failure of the government.”
Echoing a similar sentiment, Congress general secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh in a tweet said,” The PM is still silent, too busy preparing for his visit to the US while Manipur continues to burn.”
The Congress has been blaming the BJP government in Manipur over the current situation.
The party also demanded that an all-party delegation should be allowed to go to Manipur to visit all the affected areas and meet all stakeholders.
