Malkajgiri Member of Parliament Etala Rajender stated that the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma (PMV) scheme represents a significant step towards empowering traditional artisans and craftspeople in India.
Speaking as the chief guest at an event organised by the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI), Vidyanagar, Hyderabad, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the PM Vishwakarma scheme, Rajender highlighted the scheme’s positive impact. The event was held in parallel with the National ‘PM Vishwakarma’ program in Wardha, Maharashtra.
Rajender emphasised that the PM Vishwakarma scheme has been a game-changer for the livelihoods of many traditional artisans, commonly referred to as “Vishwakarmas,” by providing them with modern tools, training, and financial assistance. He added that the scheme plays a vital role in preserving India’s rich cultural heritage and is already showing promising progress in Telangana, with significant enrolments and training activities being conducted across the state.
He noted that the majority of enrolments in Telangana have come from tailors, demonstrating the scheme’s success in empowering traditional artisans and craftspeople. Rajender distributed PM Vishwakarma certificates to eligible beneficiaries during the event.
Also present at the event were G.R. Surya Raj, Director of Dynamic Tools Pvt Ltd and Chairman of NSTI Vidyanagar, K. Srinivasa Rao, Director of the National Instructional Media Institute, Chennai, and Regional Director of RDSDE Telangana & Andhra Pradesh. Artisans from various districts of Telangana also participated in the event.
